Emmanuel Tacima Samuel International Youth Ambassador
Emmanuel Tacima Samuel is a social science student at Waterford
institute of technology. Although he was born and raised in one of the
refugee camps in northern Uganda, he is originally he is from the
war-torn country of South Sudan. His family came to Ireland in 2008
through an agreement between the Irish government and UNHCR’s (United
Nation’s Higher Commissioner for Refugees) family resettlement
He completed his leaving certificate in 2015 in Callan CBS Kilkenny (Colaiste Eamon Ris), while being an active youth leader at a local youth. He successfully co-funded an intercultural youth group and continue to demonstrated an outstanding leadership and initiative taking abilities. While not mobilising his peers, he spends his times on the football (soccer) pitch to the extent of leading an intercultural football team by the name of Kilkenny Tigers to football tournaments or simply against local clubs as a tool for attaining intercultural enjoyment.
In 2015 Emmanuel become a volunteer for the Ireland based European N.G.O, Eurobug International, which offered him the opportunity to further develop his leadership capability. This enabled him to travel across Europe through the Erasmus plus program, assisting with writing, planning and facilitating youth exchanges and training courses. While at the same time expanding his knowledge on other European cultures and the bureaucracy of the EU.
Simultaneously Emmanuel was heavily involved with the NYCI’s (National Youths Council of Ireland) Intercultural and Equality department, becoming an ambassador for the Council of Europe’s No Hate Speech Movement initiative that combat hate speech both online and offline. This saw Emmanuel running workshops to other young people and youth workers around the country. Emmanuel was also part of the Ireland-Lebanon project titled (Transforming Shadows) that brought 6 young people to Lebanon to work on methods of conflict transformation with their counterparts.
In 2016, Emmanuel was awarded an eilExplore travel Award and spent two months in Mexico volunteering in a community library in a small fishing village near the town of Zihuantanejo in Guerrero State. While in Mexico, Emmanuel lived with a host family and got the opportunity to add another culture to his experiences.
Towards the end of 2017, Emmanuel become an official International Youth Ambassador for Twilight Business Consultancy Group which developed a unique protocol for twining towns, with a significance emphasis on cultural learning.
Today Emmanuel is one of the key Youth Leaders within Eurobug International and become the director of the Kilkenny Eurobug Youths that he engineered its creation at the same time forecasting the twining of his local town Kilkenny with a town in Lithuania due to his network and youth exchanges that explored the tops of social inclusion and integration.
